Holiday Luminary Walk
Does your family love gazing at Christmas lights? If so, Holiday Luminary Walk is the perfect event for your family to attend this holiday season! Organized by Botanical Gardens and Overland Park Arboretum, the Holiday Luminary Walk is a magical mile of holiday lights and candles. They also have horse-drawn carriage rides, hot cider and live entertainment. This event starts November 24 and only lasts for three weekends through December 9 – so make sure you don’t miss this wonderful event!
Holidays at Union Station
Whether you’re a long-term or short-term resident of Kansas City, you’ve likely been to at least one Holidays at Union Station. One of the most popular indoor holiday events, Union Station appeals to all kids whether you’re 2 or 92! They house the largest indoor holiday tree and put on holiday plays and performances! It’s decorated beautifully each year, making it the perfect family photo op. Your little ones will love the mini train rides, holiday movies and planetarium shows! Union Station hasn’t released their holiday lighting ceremony schedule yet, so be sure to check their website for updates.
KCP&L Plaza Lights
A true Kansas City staple, Plaza Lights is a winter wonderland for all ages! Starting Thanksgiving Day, November 23, the Plaza transforms into every Christmas lover’s dream; miles upon miles are decorated with lights and the shopping center is turned into a spectacle. Kansas Citians already know that Country Club Plaza is a shopper’s dream with stores like Michael Kors, Tiffany & Co. and Burberry to name a few. It’s the perfect place to cross some Christmas shopping off your list while enjoying the beautiful light displays. Don’t miss the Plaza Lighting Ceremony starting at 5:00 p.m. on November 23!
Northern Lights Holiday Lighting Ceremony
A popular shopping and dining center, Zona Rosa is home to the annual Northern Lights Holiday Lighting Ceremony, a Kansas City tradition! Don’t miss the lighting ceremony on November 18 – it’s free to the public. This year’s ceremony will involve a 50 foot tree, a holiday Fairy Princess, and St. Nick himself will even be making an appearance. Make sure your kids have their Christmas lists finished to pass on to Santa!
The Ice at Park Place
Love getting the entire family together for ice skating and hot chocolate? If so, then you’ll love The Ice at Park Place! Starting November 17, Leawood will open its outdoor ice rink to all ages. Not only can you enjoy ice skating, you can also enjoy warm drink and food vendors and holiday shopping. We’re told that your little ones can even skate with Santa starting December 2! The Ice at Park Place is a great outdoor event for all ages to come together and enjoy traditional holiday festivities.
